Staff

Our philosophy of care relates to the care we would expect for our own Mothers, Fathers or Grandparents

The Proprietor, Mrs S Harris, was a Registered Nurse Level 1, a Registered Health Visitor and a Nurse Practitioner BSc (Hons). Mrs Harris has owned and supervised Ashdale since 1987 and although she is semi-retired will still be visiting Ashdale regularly.  The Manager, Mrs D Alderman is a Registered Nurse Level 1 and has completed N.V.Q. Level 4 Management course. Mrs Alderman has worked at Ashdale since 1989. Mrs L Thomas, the  Assistant Manager is also a Registered Nurse and has also obtained her NVQ in Management, now increased to Level 5. Ashdale employs eight Registered Nurses nearly all of who have passed the Palliative Care Course. There are Registered Nursing Staff on duty day and night, which, although usual in Nursing Homes, is exceptional in most Residential Homes.

Ashdale is proud of its staff training programme which includes continual upgrading of existing knowledge and skills as well as opportunities to obtain new knowledge and skills thereby ensuring our residents have the most up-to-date care available. The majority of staff have been awarded a City and Guilds NVQ in Care Level 2 Direct Care or higher award.

Ashdale staff are trained in fire awareness and prevention with regular fire training.

Our Registered Nurses are all also trained in First Aid

The Doctors covering this catchment area are based in Argyle Medical Group. The vast majority of staff employed at Ashdale are qualified with relevant care qualifications and all staff are experienced in caring for the elderly. We are also proud to state that the majority of staff have been employed within Ashdale for over ten years, demonstrating the happy environment Ashdale provides for both its staff and residents.  The staff have been chosen and taught at Ashdale to give a high standard of individual care.

At Ashdale we are proud of the internal rotation and primary team nursing that we provide so giving continuity of care second to none.  You will have an opportunity to express your preference of carer gender and we will do our best to adhere to your choice.

All clients are risk assessed and if appropriate, specialist nursing equipment is introduced in keeping with advances in care, such as the most up to date profiling beds, alternating pressure air mattresses, bed rails handling and moving equipment, including six hoists with a variety of slings.   All beds have a special mattress designed to meet the needs of the client. Our large bathrooms have bath hoists, which enable all residents to enjoy a bath. There is special equipment for those requiring Palliative Care.
